LandGlass and VIG Technologies reaches exclusive agreement with Vitro Architectural Glass for VIG

LandGlass and VIG Technologies reaches exclusive agreement with Vitro Architectural Glass on the manufacture, market, and supply of LandVac tVIG, Tempered Vacuum Insulating Glass Units in North America.

Announcement: JUPITER, FL, July 20, 2021 – LandGlass, Luoyang China, and VIG Technologies, Jupiter Florida, announced that it has reached an agreement with Vitro Architectural Glass (formerly PPG Glass) for exclusive rights to manufacture, market, and supply LandVac tVIG, Tempered Vacuum Insulating Glass units in North America.

For Vitro customers, designers, and channel partners, this agreement will open a new paradigm of high-performance glass possibilities,” Michael Spellman, CEO, VIG Technologies noted, “LandGlass has made a significant investment over several years in developing a game-changing technical concept into a manufacturing reality.” Spellman further commented, “Vitro is the perfect partner to lead the North American market in utilizing this ‘best in class’ vacuum insulating technology in improving occupant comfort while significantly reducing energy usage and thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

Vitro will begin supplying LandVac tVIG units by late Autumn 2021 and will have further announcements concerning future equipment installation allowing for expanded manufacturing within its North American operations.

The standard 8.3mm or 1/3” tVIG units will be optimized for use in stand-alone application,

or will be integrated into enhanced or hybrid insulating configurations. Units will be available with select Solarban® solar control, low-e coatings exclusively through the Vitro Certified Network of glass fabricators and window manufacturers.

The full range of Solarban® coatings and Vitro Glass substrates will be available on the non-tVIG lites of an enhanced or hybrid VIG configuration.

"LandGlass and their “LandVac® brand uses the world’s best VIG technology, so their products are a natural fit in Vitro’s already expansive and trusted product portfolio,” said Martin Bracamonte, vice president, marketing and innovation, Vitro Architectural Glass. “For Vitro customers, designers and other channel partners, this agreement will unlock an entirely new paradigm of high-performance glass possibilities.”

The tVIG units will initially be available in sizes up to 1.45m x 2.45m (58” x 96”). Both lites will be fully tempered and include a double silver low-e coating. While glass thickness options will be available, a standard construction would include two fully tempered lites of 4mm thickness with a double silver low-e on surface two of the outboard lite. The lites would be separated by a 0.3mm vacuum space supported by a 55mm x 55mm stainless steel spacer array which is hermetically sealed along the perimeter by a proprietary non-leaded metal solder. At one-third the thickness and substantially lighter in weight than a conventional IGU, the LandVac tVIG is SGCC certified and has demonstrated a phenomenal R-value of 14.3 while maintaining a Tvis of 70%, STC ratings up to 39dB, and remaining condensation-free down to -50C. The LandVac tVIG is suitable for constructions that can experience delta T exposures up to 100C, thus allowing the LandVac tVIG to be used in all climate zones across North America.

The LandVac tVIG units are the ideal solution for retrofit applications as they are an easy replacement for the monolithic glass found in many existing buildings. Likewise, emphasis from more stringent energy codes, and Net Zero energy goals are demanding building owners and developers find advanced ways to minimize conventional environmental impact.
